Star Citizen raises another $2.7 million in less than a week

The last milestone space simulator Star Citizen hit was $60 million. That was a little less than a month ago.

Now the crowdfunded behemoth has raised a total of $65.7 million. Remember, the original 2012 Kickstarter goal was a mere $500,000.

Last week, developer Cloud Imperium Games promised that it would add pets to the game once it hit $64 million, which it did less than a week after making the announcement.

The game, which is barely playable still, is expected to be released sometime in 2016, and creator Chris Roberts thinks it will hit $100 million by then.

The first-person portion of it is being developed by IllFonic. Earlier this year, we learned a lot more about it than we knew since being revealed.

You can still pledge to the game and get your own ship for as low as $30 and as high as, wait for it, $15,000.
